A Franklin Institute Wedding is a hidden gem among Philadelphia wedding museums. Named after America’s earliest innovator and statesman, the Franklin Institute offers couples a dash of history and elegance along with romance and adventure–the perfect venue for a once-in-a-lifetime wedding.
About a Franklin Institute Wedding
The Franklin Institute was founded in 1824 in honor of polymath and American founding father Benjamin Franklin, who was also the sixth governor of Pennsylvania. Couples planning to exchange vows in an outdoor setting may say “I do” under the stars at the Fels Planetarium, the second oldest Planetarium in the country. Alternately, you may choose to have your ceremony on the Rooftop Deck overlooking the Ben Franklin Parkway. On a rainy day or for couples who prefer an indoor ceremony, the stunning Pepper Hall with its beautiful bookshelves and gigantic dark wooden doors, makes for a spectacular entrance down the aisle. Its wide windows also afford beautiful views of the city outside.
The science museum’s interactive exhibits, such as the Wisdom Hall and Brain Exhibit make for a fascinating place to enjoy cocktails, as guests are able to climb through a two-story neural structure with lighting and sound features, and the nearby Benjamin Franklin Memorial serves as the perfect historical backdrop for your wedding reception.

Food and beverages are provided by the Frog Commissary which has partnered with the Franklin Institute exclusively for over 30 years, and includes a complete, personalized menu for a plated dinner, with options for a buffet, or food stations.
