Happy 80th Anniversary to the Wizard of Oz! My all-time, absolute favorite movie! I remember watching it over and over as a child, and still watch it at least a few times a year! So, a few years ago, when the stars aligned and the most amazing wedding professionals got together, we were able to create the most beautiful, epic Wizard of Oz Wedding Inspiration photo shoot! So, in celebration of the Wizard of Oz’s 80th Anniversary, I’m throwing it back to that beautiful August day in 2013…
Wizard of Oz Wedding Photography
“I think ever since I started my wedding photography business, I’ve always dreamed of shooting a Wizard of Oz wedding. To date, sadly, I dont know of anyone who has done a wedding with such an awesome theme. (Um… it’s now 2019 and I’m still waiting for a REAL wedding with a Wizard of Oz theme!) So, I started talking to some of my favorite ladies in the industry, and we decided, lets do it ourselves! I cant even express how incredibly fabulous it was to have my dreams come true right in front of my eyes! I had such a fabulous time not just putting together this shoot, but working side by side with some of the best women in the industry! We were so thankful that Mr. Pratt offered his property – Pratt Gardens – as our backdrop! It was absolutely gorgeous, and we could not thank him enough for his hospitality! It was truly a wonderful day!”
The rockstar wedding professionals involved were:
Photography: Tami Melissa Photography | Flowers/Design: A Garden Party | Hair/Makeup: Your Day Your Way Traveling Hair and Makeup Artistry | Venue: Pratt Gardens | Paper/Stationary: Abbey Malcom Letterpress + Design | Dresses: Little Shop of Dresses | Tutu’s: M&K’s Tutu’s | Rentals: Rental City | Linens: Let’s Do Linen’s | Cakes: The Sweet Life Bakery | Planner: Just Be the Bride (Those companies not linked are sadly no longer in business)
Wizard of Oz | Circular Wedding Ceremony Set-Up
When it came to designing the ceremony, we knew we wanted it to resemble the yellow brick road. So, why not do a circular set-up, just like when Dorothy began her journey to Oz?! Now, our bride and groom start their new journey together in life!
Wizard of Oz | Flower Girls & Ring Bearers
Instead of carrying flowers or rings, our little munchkins carried lollipops!
Wizard of Oz | The Bride & Groom Portraits
We found our perfect Dorothy Gale & Oscar Marvel to model for us for this inspiration shoot! They were the sweetest together
Wizard of Oz | The Bridal Party
Who better to have stand by your side than the Good Witch & Bad Witch?! Holly & Christina played their parts perfectly!
Wizard of Oz | The Wedding Details
Not one detail was overlooked! From the invitations to the escort cards to the table cloth matching Dorothy’s blue and white dress. It was an absolute DREAM COME TRUE! The cakes, however, might be the most epic, flawless, unique cakes I’ve ever had the chance to witness! While The Sweet Life Bakery may no longer be in business, you can still find Jill being a rockstar as the new Culinary Instructor at Rowan College at Burlington County. So, if you want to learn from this amazingly talented woman, go take her classes!! As for the flowers, A Garden Party blows me away each and every time we work together! I think we’re going on about 10 years working together and I look forward to every.single.wedding that we’re able to collaborate on! Mary, Dawn and their team are top notch!
